Where are you located?
Cauzican Care Animal Rescue is a volunteer organization that does not have a facility. We rely solely on fosters. We pull animals from the Wakulla County Animal Control in Crawfordville, FL.
What does it mean to be a "no-kill rescue"?
We shelter an animal for as long as it takes to find them a home. We serve as the main exposure point, help process applications and network for animals in the Wakulla County Animal Control in Crawfordville, FL.
What does “Code Red” mean?
Code Red means the animals that are at the shelter are in danger of being euthanized at any time because either they have been there the longest with little to no interest or they are owner surrenders. It is important to understand that when an owner brings their pet to the shelter, they are automatically on the Code Red list.We strive to pull these animals out of the shelter to save their lives whether it be into the Foster Program if fostering funds are available which include vetting, if a committed rescue can pull or if they can be adopted.
What does “Stray-Hold” mean?
There is a 5 day stray hold when an animal that has not been owner-surrendered before being added to the Code Red List.
What does “Owner-Surrendered” mean?
Owner-surrendered means that the animal is automatically added to the Code Red List when an owner drops their pet off at the shelter. There is no stray-hold.
How much is the adoption fee for animals?
Shelter and Foster animal adoption fees are:
Male Cats: $85
Female Cats: $100
What does the adoption fee include?
Adoption fees cover vaccines, spay/neuter, and micro-chipping.

How long do animals usually stay in the Foster Program?
Adult cats and dogs typically take longer to adopt than small dogs, puppies, kittens and rare breeds. There are temporary fosters as well as permanent fosters.
How do you become a volunteer?
How old do you have to be to become a volunteer?
You must be 18 years old to volunteer.
What does my donation go towards?
Your donations goes towards, food, vetting, care packages for a specific animal if requested, medication and supplies.
What are ways I can help?
What are some suggestions if I need to re-home my pet?
We understand that unfornuate situations occur and some people have to re-home their beloved pet. Be smart because your pet's future is in your hands and you should only want the very best for them. Always do your research on where your pet's new home will be.
- Spay and/or neuter your pet
- Ask friends or family if they can adopt or temporarily foster
- Do NOT post to Craigslist
- Do NOT post "Free"
- Do vet and personal references on potentional adopters
- If potential adopter refuses a home visit, do not adopt to them
- Research local shelters, most are "high-skill" shelters so educate yourself on what that means if there is no interest in your beloved pet
- Research local rescues to make sure they are able to provide and care for your pet
